Council of Ferrara-Florence
The Council of Ferrara-Florence was an ecumenical council held from 1438 to 1445, aimed at addressing the schism between the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. It began in Ferrara, Italy, and later moved to Florence, where representatives from both churches sought to resolve theological differences and promote unity.
One of the key outcomes of the council was the agreement on the doctrine of Papal supremacy, which emphasized the authority of the Pope. Although the council achieved some temporary agreements, lasting unity between the two churches was not realized, and the schism continued for centuries.
