Coulée Verte
The Coulée Verte, also known as the Promenade Plantée, is a linear park located in Paris, France. It was created on an old railway viaduct and stretches approximately 4.5 kilometers from the Place de la Bastille to the Porte de Vincennes. This elevated green space features walking paths, gardens, and various plant species, providing a peaceful escape from the bustling city.
Opened in 1993, the Coulée Verte was one of the first projects to transform disused railway lines into public parks. It has inspired similar initiatives worldwide, including the High Line in New York City. The park is popular among locals and tourists for leisurely strolls and enjoying nature.
