Corydon Battle
The Corydon Battle took place on July 9, 1863, during the American Civil War. It was fought in and around the town of Corydon, Indiana, as part of the Morgan's Raid, led by Confederate General John Hunt Morgan. The battle involved a clash between Morgan's cavalry and local Union militia, resulting in a Confederate victory.
The engagement was significant as it marked the only Civil War battle fought in Indiana. Although the Union forces were outnumbered and ultimately retreated, the battle showcased the impact of the Confederate raid into the North and heightened tensions in the region.
