Corsa dei Ceri
The Corsa dei Ceri is a traditional festival held annually in the town of Gubbio, Italy, on May 15th. This event celebrates the patron saint, Saint Ubaldo, and features a race where three teams carry large wooden structures called Ceri. Each Cero represents a different saint: Saint Ubaldo, Saint Giorgio, and Saint Antonio.
During the race, participants, known as ceraioli, run through the streets of Gubbio while carrying their respective Ceri, which can weigh over 300 kilograms. The event attracts thousands of spectators and is a vibrant display of local culture, pride, and community spirit.
