Corcoran Gallery of Art
The Corcoran Gallery of Art was an art museum located in Washington, D.C., known for its extensive collection of American art. Founded in 1869 by William Wilson Corcoran, the gallery featured works from the 18th to the 21st centuries, including paintings, sculptures, and photographs.
In 2014, the gallery closed its doors, and its collection was transferred to the National Gallery of Art and the George Washington University. The Corcoran's legacy continues through educational programs and exhibitions that promote American art and culture.
