Coral Snakes
Coral snakes are small, venomous snakes found primarily in the Americas. They are known for their distinctive coloration, featuring bright red, yellow, and black bands. These colors serve as a warning to potential predators about their toxicity. Coral snakes typically inhabit forests, grasslands, and coastal areas.
Despite their potent venom, coral snakes are generally shy and prefer to avoid confrontation. They primarily feed on small reptiles and amphibians. Unlike many other snakes, coral snakes have a fixed fang structure, which means they cannot unhinge their jaws to swallow large prey. Instead, they rely on their venom to subdue their victims.
