Copenhagen Criteria
The Copenhagen Criteria are a set of essential requirements that countries must meet to join the European Union (EU). Established in 1993, these criteria focus on three main areas: political stability, a functioning market economy, and the ability to adopt and implement EU laws and regulations.
To qualify, candidate countries must demonstrate respect for human rights, the rule of law, and democratic governance. Additionally, they need to show that their economies can compete within the EU and that they can fulfill obligations related to EU membership, including adherence to the EU's values and policies.
