Copenhagen Accord
The Copenhagen Accord is a political agreement reached during the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Copenhagen, Denmark. It aimed to address global climate change by setting targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing financial support to developing countries for climate adaptation and mitigation efforts.
Although the Accord was not legally binding, it recognized the need to limit global temperature rise to below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Countries were encouraged to submit their emission reduction targets, known as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), to demonstrate their commitment to combating climate change.
