Convair F-102 Delta Dagger
The Convair F-102 Delta Dagger was a supersonic interceptor aircraft developed in the 1950s for the United States Air Force. Designed to intercept and destroy enemy bombers, it featured a distinctive delta wing shape that enhanced its speed and maneuverability. The aircraft was powered by a single Pratt & Whitney J57 engine, allowing it to reach speeds over Mach 1.
Introduced in 1956, the F-102 served primarily during the Cold War, with over 1,000 units produced. It was equipped with advanced radar and missile systems, including the AIM-4 Falcon. The F-102 was eventually phased out in favor of more advanced interceptors, but it played a crucial role in air defense during its operational years.
