Contrast Theory
Contrast Theory is a psychological concept that explains how people perceive differences between stimuli. It suggests that our understanding of an object or experience is influenced by what we compare it to. For example, if we see a bright red apple next to a dark green one, the contrast makes the red apple appear even brighter.
This theory is often applied in various fields, including marketing and design. In advertising, for instance, a product may be presented alongside a less appealing option to enhance its attractiveness. By highlighting differences, Contrast Theory helps shape our perceptions and decisions.
