Contract with America
The Contract with America was a legislative agenda introduced by the Republican Party in 1994, aimed at reforming government and addressing key issues facing the nation. It was presented by Newt Gingrich, the Speaker of the House, and outlined a series of proposals that included tax cuts, welfare reform, and a balanced budget amendment.
The initiative was designed to appeal to voters by promising accountability and efficiency in government. It played a significant role in the 1994 midterm elections, helping the Republicans gain control of the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years.
