Constance Reid was an American mathematician and author, known for her contributions to mathematics education and her writings on the history of mathematics. Born in 1910, she earned her degree from University of California, Berkeley and later became a professor at San Jose State University.
Reid is perhaps best known for her biography of the mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss and her book "The World of Mathematics," which presents mathematical concepts in an accessible way. Throughout her career, she worked to promote the understanding and appreciation of mathematics among the general public.
