Connie Kay
Connie Kay was an American jazz drummer, born on December 29, 1927, in New York City. She gained recognition for her work in the jazz genre, particularly during the 1950s and 1960s. Kay was known for her subtle and melodic drumming style, which contributed to the sound of many notable jazz ensembles.
Throughout her career, Connie Kay played with prominent musicians, including The Modern Jazz Quartet and Milt Jackson. She was a pioneering female drummer in a predominantly male field, breaking barriers and inspiring future generations of female musicians. Kay passed away on July 30, 2019.
