Connecticut Western Reserve
The Connecticut Western Reserve was a region in northeastern Ohio that was originally part of the land claimed by the Colony of Connecticut. Established in the late 18th century, it encompassed a large area that included present-day cities like Cleveland and Akron. The land was sold to settlers and played a significant role in the westward expansion of the United States.
In 1800, the Connecticut General Assembly organized the Western Reserve into a separate district, which later became part of the state of Ohio. The region is known for its rich history, including the establishment of early settlements and its influence on the development of the Midwest. Today, the Western Reserve is recognized for its cultural heritage and contributions to American history.
