Conger conger
The Conger conger, commonly known as the European conger eel, is a large species of eel found in the eastern North Atlantic Ocean. It typically inhabits rocky and sandy seabeds, often hiding in crevices. This eel can grow up to 3 meters in length and is known for its elongated body and sharp teeth.
Conger eels are primarily nocturnal predators, feeding on fish, crustaceans, and other marine organisms. They are an important part of the marine ecosystem and are also sought after in commercial fishing, particularly in Mediterranean cuisine, where they are often prepared in various dishes.
