Concertinas
A concertina is a free-reed musical instrument, similar to an accordion, that produces sound when air flows through its reeds. It consists of a bellows, a hexagonal or octagonal body, and buttons on either end. Players press the buttons to open valves, allowing air to pass through the reeds, creating musical notes. Concertinas are often used in folk music and traditional dance.
There are different types of concertinas, including the English concertina, which has a uniform layout of buttons, and the Irish concertina, known for its rich sound and expressive capabilities. The instrument is popular in various musical genres, including traditional Irish music and sea shanties.
