Concert For Bangladesh
The Concert for Bangladesh was a groundbreaking benefit concert held on August 1, 1971, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Organized by musicians George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, the event aimed to raise awareness and funds for the humanitarian crisis in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) during the Bangladesh Liberation War.
The concert featured performances by notable artists, including Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and Billy Preston. It was one of the first large-scale charity concerts in history, raising over $12 million for refugees and setting a precedent for future benefit events.
