Communist Party of Thailand
The Communist Party of Thailand (CPT) was founded in 1942 and aimed to establish a communist state in Thailand. It was influenced by the global communist movement and sought to address social inequalities and promote workers' rights. The party gained some support during the 1970s but faced significant repression from the government.
Throughout its history, the CPT engaged in both political and armed struggle, particularly during the Cold War era. However, by the late 1980s, the party began to lose influence, leading to its eventual decline. In 1989, the CPT officially dissolved its armed wing and shifted towards legal political activities.
