Common Nightjar
The Common Nightjar (*Caprimulgus europaeus*) is a medium-sized nocturnal bird found across Europe, Asia, and parts of Africa. It has a mottled brown and gray plumage that provides excellent camouflage against the ground, making it difficult to spot during the day. Nightjars are known for their distinctive calls, which they use during the breeding season to attract mates.
These birds primarily feed on insects, catching them in flight with their wide mouths. The Common Nightjar prefers open habitats like heathlands, woodlands, and grasslands, where it can easily blend into its surroundings. They are most active at dusk and dawn, showcasing their unique behaviors during these twilight hours.
