Common Gerbil
The Common Gerbil (Meriones unguiculatus) is a small rodent native to Asia, particularly found in Mongolia and northern China. They are known for their long tails, large eyes, and sandy-colored fur, which helps them blend into their desert habitats. Commonly kept as pets, these animals are social and active, requiring ample space to burrow and explore.
In the wild, Common Gerbils live in colonies and are primarily herbivorous, feeding on seeds, grains, and roots. They have adapted to arid environments by being able to survive with minimal water intake. Their playful nature and relatively low maintenance make them popular among pet owners, similar to other small pets like hamsters and mice.
