Comet Tebbutt
Comet Tebbutt, officially designated as C/1861 J1, is a long-period comet discovered by the Australian astronomer John Tebbutt on April 3, 1861. It became notable for its bright appearance and was visible to the naked eye, making it one of the most observed comets of the 19th century.
The comet reached perihelion, its closest point to the Sun, on May 24, 1861. Its orbit takes approximately 6.6 years to complete, and it is believed to originate from the Oort Cloud, a distant region of icy bodies surrounding the solar system.
