Comet Lovejoy C/2011 W3
Comet Lovejoy C/2011 W3 is a non-periodic comet discovered by Australian amateur astronomer Terry Lovejoy in November 2011. It became notable for its bright appearance and was visible to the naked eye during its closest approach to the Sun in December 2011.
The comet's orbit takes it far beyond the outer planets, and it is estimated to take over 8,000 years to complete one full orbit around the Sun. Its close encounter with the Sun caused it to brighten significantly, making it a popular target for both amateur and professional astronomers.
