Columbia Basin Project
The Columbia Basin Project is a large-scale irrigation project located in the state of Washington. It was initiated in the early 20th century to provide water for agriculture in the arid regions of the Columbia River Basin. The project includes several dams, reservoirs, and canals that help distribute water to farmers, enhancing crop production and supporting local economies.
The project is managed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and has transformed over 600,000 acres of land into productive farmland. Key components include the Grand Coulee Dam, which is one of the largest concrete structures in the United States, and the Banks Lake reservoir, which plays a crucial role in water storage and distribution.
