Colorado Fuel and Iron Company
The Colorado Fuel and Iron Company (CF&I) was a major steel and coal producer in the United States, founded in 1881. It played a significant role in the industrial development of the American West, particularly in Colorado. CF&I was known for its large steel mill in Pueblo, which became one of the largest in the country.
The company was involved in various industries, including coal mining and railroad operations. CF&I faced numerous labor disputes and strikes, reflecting the broader struggles of workers during the industrial era. Eventually, the company was acquired by United States Steel Corporation in 2007, marking the end of its independent operations.
