Colonnes de Buren
The Colonnes de Buren are a series of black and white striped columns located in the courtyard of the Palais-Royal in Paris, France. Designed by artist Daniel Buren, the installation consists of 260 columns of varying heights, arranged in a grid pattern. This contemporary artwork contrasts with the classical architecture of the surrounding buildings.
Installed in 1986, the Colonnes de Buren have become a popular attraction for both locals and tourists. The columns serve as a playful interaction between art and the public space, inviting visitors to walk among them and engage with the environment.
