Colonial Georgia
Colonial Georgia was established in 1733 as the last of the original thirteen colonies in America. Founded by James Oglethorpe, it aimed to provide a fresh start for debtors and the poor, as well as to serve as a buffer against Spanish Florida. The colony was unique for its ban on slavery initially, promoting small farms and a diverse population.
The colony's economy relied on agriculture, with crops like rice and indigo becoming important. Over time, slavery was introduced, leading to a shift in labor practices. Colonial Georgia also played a significant role in the conflicts between European powers in North America.
