Coke Production
Coke production is the process of converting coal into coke, a porous and carbon-rich material used primarily in steelmaking. The process begins with heating coal in an oxygen-free environment, a method known as pyrolysis. This heating removes volatile substances, resulting in a solid product that can withstand high temperatures.
The produced coke is then used in a blast furnace, where it serves as both a fuel and a reducing agent to extract iron from iron ore. This process is essential in the steel industry, as it helps create the high temperatures needed for melting and refining metals, contributing to the production of steel.
