Coherentism
Coherentism is a theory in epistemology that suggests beliefs are justified if they cohere or fit well with a system of interconnected beliefs. Instead of relying on foundational beliefs, coherentism emphasizes the relationships and support among beliefs, creating a web of justification.
In this view, a belief is considered true or justified if it is part of a coherent set of beliefs that support each other. This contrasts with foundationalism, which posits that some beliefs are self-justified and serve as the basis for others. Coherentism highlights the importance of the overall consistency of beliefs in forming knowledge.
