Cochise
Cochise was a prominent leader of the Chiricahua Apache tribe in the 19th century. He is best known for his role in the Apache Wars, a series of conflicts between the Apache people and the United States government. Cochise was a skilled warrior and strategist, leading his people in resistance against encroachment on their lands.
Cochise's most famous conflict was the Bascom Affair in 1861, which escalated tensions between the Apache and settlers. After years of fighting, he eventually negotiated a peace treaty in 1872, allowing his people to live on a reservation in Arizona. Cochise died in 1874, leaving a legacy as a symbol of Native American resistance.
