Climate Accord
A Climate Accord is an international agreement aimed at addressing climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. One of the most notable examples is the Paris Agreement, adopted in 2015, where countries committed to limiting global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Each participating nation sets its own targets for emission reductions, known as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
These accords encourage cooperation among countries to share technology, finance, and strategies for sustainable development. By working together, nations aim to mitigate the impacts of climate change, protect ecosystems, and promote a transition to renewable energy sources, ultimately fostering a healthier planet for future generations.
