Cleveland-class cruiser
The Cleveland-class cruiser was a class of light cruisers built for the United States Navy during World War II. Designed for speed and versatility, these ships were equipped with powerful armaments, including 6-inch guns, and were intended for various roles such as anti-aircraft defense and surface warfare. A total of 27 ships were constructed, with the first launched in 1941.
These cruisers played a significant role in naval operations throughout the war, participating in key battles in the Pacific Theater. The Cleveland-class was known for its relatively lightweight design, allowing for faster movement and greater maneuverability compared to heavier cruisers like the Baltimore-class.
