Clarendon and Pittsford Railroad
The Clarendon and Pittsford Railroad was a short-line railroad in the state of Vermont, primarily serving the towns of Clarendon and Pittsford. Established in the late 19th century, it played a crucial role in transporting goods, particularly lumber and agricultural products, between local industries and larger rail networks.
The railroad was incorporated in 1870 and operated until the mid-20th century. It connected with the Rutland Railroad, enhancing regional trade and commerce. Over time, changes in transportation and industry led to its decline, and the line was eventually abandoned, marking the end of an important chapter in local transportation history.
