Civil law
Civil law is a legal system that deals with disputes between individuals or organizations. It focuses on resolving issues such as contracts, property, and family matters, rather than criminal offenses. In civil law cases, the party that brings the lawsuit is called the plaintiff, while the party being sued is the defendant. The goal is to provide compensation or remedy to the injured party.
Unlike criminal law, which involves the state prosecuting individuals for offenses against society, civil law primarily seeks to address private wrongs. Decisions in civil law cases often result in monetary damages or specific performance, rather than imprisonment or fines.
