Citarum River
The Citarum River is one of the longest rivers in Indonesia, flowing approximately 300 kilometers through the island of Java. It originates from the Wayang Mountain and empties into the Java Sea. The river is vital for irrigation, drinking water, and hydroelectric power for millions of people living in its basin.
However, the Citarum River is also known for its severe pollution issues. Industrial waste, household garbage, and agricultural runoff have significantly degraded its water quality. Efforts are ongoing to clean and restore the river, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation in urban areas.
