Citarum
The Citarum River is one of the longest rivers in Indonesia, flowing approximately 300 kilometers through the island of Java. It originates from the Wayang Mountains and empties into the Java Sea. The river is vital for irrigation, drinking water, and supporting local ecosystems.
However, the Citarum is also known for its severe pollution issues, largely due to industrial waste and domestic sewage. Efforts have been made to clean and restore the river, as it plays a crucial role in the livelihoods of millions of people living in its basin.
