Chromosomal
"Chromosomal" refers to anything related to chromosomes, which are structures within cells that contain DNA. Chromosomes play a crucial role in genetics, as they carry the genetic information necessary for the growth, development, and functioning of living organisms. In humans, for example, there are 23 pairs of chromosomes, with one set inherited from each parent.
Each chromosome is made up of tightly coiled DNA and proteins, forming a complex known as chromatin. During cell division, chromosomes ensure that DNA is accurately replicated and distributed to daughter cells. Abnormalities in chromosomal structure or number can lead to genetic disorders, such as Down syndrome or Turner syndrome.
