Christopher Gadsden
Christopher Gadsden was an American politician and soldier born in 1724 in Charleston, South Carolina. He is best known for his role as a leader in the American Revolution and for his strong advocacy for colonial rights. Gadsden was a member of the Continental Congress and helped organize resistance against British rule.
Gadsden is also famous for designing the Gadsden flag, which features a rattlesnake and the phrase "Don't Tread on Me." This flag became a symbol of American independence and resistance. He served as a brigadier general in the Continental Army and played a significant role in various military campaigns during the Revolutionary War.
