Christkind
The Christkind is a traditional figure associated with Christmas in many German-speaking countries. Often depicted as a young child or angelic figure, the Christkind is believed to bring gifts to children on Christmas Eve. This character is distinct from Santa Claus, who is more commonly recognized in other cultures.
The origins of the Christkind date back to the Protestant Reformation, when Martin Luther sought to shift the focus of Christmas away from Saint Nicholas. Today, the Christkind is celebrated in various Christmas markets and events, where it is often portrayed in plays and parades, delighting families and children alike.
