Christianity in Korea
Christianity in Korea has a significant presence, with approximately 30% of the population identifying as Christian. The two main denominations are Protestantism and Catholicism, both of which have grown rapidly since the late 19th century. The arrival of Christian missionaries played a crucial role in spreading the faith, leading to the establishment of numerous churches and educational institutions.
In South Korea, Christianity is often associated with social movements and modernization. The country is home to some of the largest churches in the world, such as Yoido Full Gospel Church. In contrast, North Korea has a repressive regime that severely restricts religious practices, leading to a small and underground Christian community.
