Christ The Redeemer is a large statue of Jesus Christ located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Standing at 98 feet tall, it is situated atop the Corcovado Mountain and overlooks the city. The statue was completed in 1931 and is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone. It is one of the most recognizable symbols of Brazil and a popular tourist attraction.
The statue represents peace and is a significant religious icon for many Christians. It was designed by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa. In 2007, Christ The Redeemer was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
