Chopi People
The Chopi people are an ethnic group primarily found in the southern region of Mozambique. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, which includes traditional music, dance, and crafts. The Chopi are particularly famous for their unique musical instruments, such as the mbila, a type of xylophone that plays a central role in their cultural expressions.
Traditionally, the Chopi people engage in agriculture, fishing, and hunting for their livelihoods. They cultivate crops like maize and cassava, which are staples in their diet. The community is organized into clans, and their social structure is deeply rooted in customs and traditions that have been passed down through generations.
