Chloride Levels
Chloride levels refer to the concentration of chloride ions in the blood, which is an important electrolyte. Chloride helps maintain fluid balance, acid-base balance, and proper nerve and muscle function. Normal chloride levels typically range from 98 to 106 milliequivalents per liter (mEq/L).
Abnormal chloride levels can indicate various health issues. High chloride levels, known as hyperchloremia, may result from dehydration or kidney problems, while low levels, or hypochloremia, can occur due to excessive vomiting or certain medications. Monitoring chloride levels is essential for assessing overall health and diagnosing potential medical conditions.
