Chinese Tiantai
Chinese Tiantai is a school of Mahayana Buddhism that originated in China during the 6th century. It was founded by the monk Zhiyi, who emphasized the importance of the Lotus Sutra as a central text. Tiantai teachings focus on the concept of "three truths," which are the ultimate reality, the conventional reality, and the middle way that reconciles both.
The Tiantai school is known for its systematic approach to Buddhist practice, including meditation and the study of scriptures. It also introduced the idea of "lotus flower" as a metaphor for enlightenment, symbolizing the potential for all beings to attain Buddhahood despite their circumstances.
