Chinese Names
Chinese names typically consist of three parts: the family name (or surname), followed by a given name. The family name is usually one syllable and comes first, while the given name can be one or two syllables. For example, in the name Li Wei, Li is the family name and Wei is the given name.
Names often carry significant meanings, reflecting virtues, nature, or aspirations. Parents may choose characters based on their meanings and the sounds they produce. Additionally, many Chinese people may have an English name for use in international contexts, but their Chinese name remains an important part of their identity.
