Chief Bromden
Chief Bromden is a character from the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey. He is a half-Indian patient in a mental hospital who pretends to be deaf and mute. His perspective provides insight into the oppressive environment of the institution, which he refers to as the Combine, a metaphor for societal control.
Throughout the story, Chief Bromden struggles with his identity and the trauma of his past. He becomes a crucial narrator, revealing the dynamics between patients and staff, particularly in relation to the character Randle McMurphy, who challenges the hospital's authority and inspires the other patients.
