Chickamauga Dam
Chickamauga Dam is a hydroelectric dam located on the Tennessee River in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Completed in 1940, it is part of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) system, which aims to provide flood control, electricity generation, and recreational opportunities. The dam creates Chickamauga Lake, which stretches approximately 59 miles upstream.
The dam has a total generating capacity of about 153 megawatts, contributing to the region's energy supply. It also plays a crucial role in managing water levels and supporting local ecosystems. The surrounding area offers various recreational activities, including fishing, boating, and hiking along the scenic shoreline.
