Chen Sheng
Chen Sheng was a Chinese peasant leader who played a significant role in the Dazexiang Uprising during the late Qin Dynasty. Born around 230 BCE, he is best known for his rebellion against the harsh rule of the Qin government, which imposed heavy taxes and forced labor on the populace.
In 209 BCE, Chen Sheng and his fellow peasants revolted after being unable to fulfill their conscription orders. His leadership inspired many to join the uprising, which marked one of the earliest significant rebellions in Chinese history, ultimately contributing to the fall of the Qin Dynasty and the rise of the Han Dynasty.
