Charles Vyner Brooke
Charles Vyner Brooke was the last Rajah of Sarawak, a state on the island of Borneo. He ruled from 1917 until 1946, following in the footsteps of his father, James Brooke, who established the Brooke dynasty. Vyner was known for his efforts to modernize Sarawak, focusing on infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
During World War II, Sarawak was occupied by the Japanese, which significantly impacted Vyner's rule. After the war, he ceded Sarawak to the British Crown in 1946, ending the Brooke family's reign. His leadership and decisions shaped the future of Sarawak and its integration into Malaysia.
