Charles The Bald
Charles the Bald was a king of the Franks and a member of the Carolingian dynasty. Born in 823, he was the grandson of Charlemagne and became king of the West Frankish Kingdom in 843. He was known for his efforts to maintain and govern his territories during a time of fragmentation in Europe.
In addition to his role as king, Charles was also crowned Emperor of the Romans in 875. His reign was marked by conflicts with his brothers, particularly over territorial disputes. Charles the Bald died in 877, leaving a legacy of political challenges and a divided empire.
