Charles Ogden
Charles Ogden was a British linguist and philosopher, best known for his work in the field of semiotics and the philosophy of language. He co-authored the influential book, The Meaning of Meaning, with Ivor Armstrong Richards in 1923, which explored how language conveys meaning and the relationship between words and the concepts they represent.
In addition to his contributions to linguistics, Ogden developed the Basic English system, a simplified version of the English language designed to facilitate international communication. This system aimed to reduce the complexity of English by using a limited vocabulary, making it easier for non-native speakers to learn and use the language effectively.
